Fire from Volcano at Dinosaur Adventure Golf in Niagara Falls
While on Clifton Hill today, the volcano at Dinosaur Adventure Golf was erupting. There isn’t any lava or anything, but there is a big fireball that comes out of the volcano. It certainly gets your attention!
Here is a picture of it in action.
I also took a 6-second video. You can see it on YouTube or watch it below:

Dinosaur Adventure Golf Opens on Clifton Hill Niagara Falls
From a WebWire press release:
Legendary Niagara Falls, Canada is now home to a spectacular, one-of-a-kind attraction that should be experienced first hand to fully appreciate: Dinosaur Adventure Golf. www.cliftonhill.com/attractions/dinosaur-adventure-golf
As one of the nation’s largest miniature golf courses, Dinosaur Adventure Golf features two 18-hole courses (“Raptor” and “T-Rex”); 3 distinct decorative ponds with fast-moving rapids and bubblers; and a 50 foot high “active” steam-erupting volcano that lets golfers play directly through a realistically eerie, cavernous volcanic interior on their way to the 18th hole.
All of this is spread out over a massive 70,000 square foot playing surface, and populated by 50 astonishingly realistic and life-sized dinosaurs — many which loom over 30 feet high.

New Dinosaur Adventure Golf sign
Things are coming along nicely for the new Dinosaur Adventure Golf on Clifton Hill behind the Niagara SkyWheel. Yesterday they put up the signs. I think the eyeball looks cool!

September 2010 Dinosaur Park Adventure Golf construction update
From the ground, it doesn’t look like much has been done at the future site of Dinosaur Park Adventure Golf (on Clifton Hill behind the Niagara SkyWheel). However, from above you can tell they’ve done a lot of work.
At the end of August I went on the Niagara SkyWheel and took a few pictures of the future course below. You can see that the volcano and ponds appear to be all done, and the ground has been cleared with power brought to several locations.

Progress report on Dinosaur Park Adventure Golf
Work continues on the Dinosaur Park Adventure Golf location on Clifton Hill (behind the Niagara SkyWheel). Right now all of the work is on the volcano. It appears that the mesh overlay is almost up, and they’ve started putting on the concrete outer shell.

Dinosaur Park Adventure Golf volcano shape update
Over the last week or so, the workers at Dinosaur Park Adventure Golf on Clifton Hill (behind the Niagara SkyWheel) have started putting a finer frame and mesh around the volcano. I assume this is in preparation for the outer coating to be applied at some point.

Dinosaur Park Adventure Golf
As Lonny mentioned a couple of weeks ago, the City of Niagara Falls has information about the steel structure behind the Niagara SkyWheel. The attraction will be called Dinosaur Park Adventure Golf. The city web site doesn’t really have any other information on it. It says it is new construction and that it is currently under construction, but there is no proposed opening date.

Stranded travellers enjoy the Falls
From the Niagara Falls Review:
As volcanic ash continues to ground aircraft across much of western Europe, travellers stranded in Canada are finding ways to pass the time.
For Nick Haynes, he decided a visit to Niagara Falls was in order.
Haynes, international director at BRE (Building Research Establishment) Group, and Rufus Logan, director of BRE Scotland, were in Toronto last week to attend meetings.
They were scheduled to return to the United Kingdom Thursday, the same day a volcano erupted in Iceland, sending a massive ash cloud into the skies above Europe.
Flights to and from European locations were grounded as debris in the ash cloud could cause jet engines to stall.
“We can’t get home, so we’re doing a bit of sightseeing and (planning) to meet with some people,” Haynes said Sunday before heading out to the Maid of the Mist.

Volcano in Iceland Even Affects Niagara Falls Businesses
A volcanic eruption in Iceland has disrupted Air travel throughout the world. That eruption has even affected local Niagara Falls businesses such as hotels and tour providers.Update on construction on property behind Niagara SkyWheel
I tweeted on Saturday that I was up on the Niagara SkyWheel. While on the ride, I took a couple of pictures on the work going on behind it. The “teepee” (that’s what a friend of mine called it) hasn’t changed much, but there is lots of other work going on at the site. The word is that it is a new mini-putt course with a large volcano (see here, here, here, and here).
