Windows by Jamie Kennedy restaurant

Last year it was announced that famous chef Jamie Kennedy was going to be starting a restaurant that is part of the Canadian Niagara Hotels property. Windows by Jamie Kennedy – Niagara Falls now has a web site. There are short bios of Jamie Kennedy (responsible for the food) and Tony Aspler (responsible for the wine) as well as a very professionally done video talking about the restaurant. It’s worth a look.
The site also says the restaurant will be opening in February 2012.

Video from the Winter Festival of Lights 2010-2011 Opening Ceremonies
Last week I posted some pictures from the CAA Winter Festival of Lights 2010-2011 Opening Ceremonies. I also took a very short video. You can see/hear a short clip from a couple of the performances. You can also get a sense of how big the crowd was. I would have taken a longer video and shown more, but I was holding my daughter and didn’t have a free hand
You can watch the video below, or view it in HD on YouTube.

WNED wants your stories of Niagara Falls
From the Niagara Falls Review:
Wanted: Niagara Falls residents with a video camera to help capture the essence of their community on tape and share it with a large audience of public television viewers across Ontario and Western New York.
No experience necessary.
WNED Buffalo/Toronto has selected the Cataract City as the subject of the next in its series of Our Town documentaries.
The show is intended to be a one-hour “video scrapbook” of the people, places and happenings in Niagara Falls as seen through the eyes of the people who live here.
The station is looking to recruit 20-25 residents who have access to video camcorders to take a lead role in the project — everything from brainstorming topics to shooting video and helping narrate the final, edited product.

Spring break road trip from Ohio to Niagara Falls New York
Sarah Takacs and her friend took a road trip from Ohio to Niagara Falls for Spring Break. This was the first time any of them saw Niagara Falls in the winter. Sarah tells us, “At times, we could feel the mist, and, while standing on a bridge, we were amazed at how fast the water flowed [...]Vanessa Neil, Sword Swallower, at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum
As you read on Saturday, I went to Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum to see the sword swallower. This was the second year that they did it, and I thought Vanessa Neil was better than Riley Schillaci, last year’s performer. I can’t really explain what I didn’t like about Riley, but she just didn’t seem happy to be there. Vanessa was much more chatty, smiled a lot, and seemed happy to be there with everyone.
I was going to make some observations, but I thought the article in the Niagara Falls Review that I linked to yesterday got all of the main points. Also, you can read my tweets from Saturday as well.
You can see the 30-second video I took on YouTube. I forgot to bring my better HD camera, so the quality isn’t that great, but you still get a clear shot of her downing about a foot of sword in the blink of an eye. The sword was about two feet long in total.
Click here to view the embedded video.
I also took a few pictures. I couldn’t tweet, do a video, and take pictures at the same time, so I don’t have a still picture of her with the sword in her mouth. However, you can see her holding the sword, as well as the crowd that was gathered. You can also see the renovations that they are doing at Ripley’s.
You can see the pictures in the 20100227 Sword Swallower Vanessa Neil gallery in the Niagara Falls Image Gallery. As a side note, there are now 2,920 images in 238 categories in the gallery.
