Christmas window art
A few years ago, it seemed that almost every store/attraction/restaurant in the Clifton Hill/Victoria Avenue area had Christmas-themed window paintings. I’m not sure what has happened, but this year and last year I think it was only the Ripley’s properties that did the paintings.

Antica Pizzeria covered with tarp
This picture was taken a few days ago. As you can see, Antica Pizzeria on Victoria Avenue was covered with tarp as they worked on the facade. I’ve posted about the work several times before.

I haven’t been by for a few days, so I’m not sure if the tarp has been removed or not.
UPDATE: I was by yesterday, and some, but not all, of the tarp has been removed.

Work being done on the facade of Antica Pizza
There is some scaffolding up outside Antica Pizza on Victoria Avenue. The work has come along since I took this picture. I’m not positive, but it seems that they will be moving the front door.

Dino Rampage is no more
Dino Rampage, the ride simulator on Victoria Avenue has been closed for a while, but just the other day they finally took down the signs and the t-rex head. I had meant to go and give it a try, but never did.
I wonder what is going into that space…

New Johnny Peppers sign up
There work on the outside of the new Johnny Peppers on Victoria Avenue (or is it Ferry St at that point? I cna never keep that straight) seems to have slowed down. I assume there is more work going on inside. The only recent change to the outside has been the addition of a sign in the last week or so.
I commented over a month ago that I couldn’t believe they weren’t open yet. They certainly don’t look like they’ll be open for Labour Day, so when are they going to open? It seems odd to have all this work done over the summer for them to open in the fall or winter.

DiCienzos buy two hotels
From the Niagara Falls Review:
Niagara’s DiCienzo family has picked up two of the best views of the Horseshoe Falls after buying the Marriott Fallsview and Sheraton Fallsview hotels last week.
“We’ve been looking for acquisitions for a little while. This move seemed to make sense,” said Dino A. DiCienzo, one of four children of patriarch Dino DiCienzo Sr., now involved in the family business.
He wouldn’t disclose how much his family paid to buy them from the family of Cosmo Menechella, another Falls family in the hotel business.
But tax rolls at city hall list the 32-storey Sheraton Fallsview’s assessment at $51.9 million and the 30-storey Marriott Fallsview’s at $66.3 million. Property assessments are supposed to reflect what a property could be sold for on the open market, though sale prices can deviate from assessed values.
The transaction means the DiCienzos have added the two Fallsview area hotels to their holdings on Falls Avenue — the Crowne Plaza and Sheraton on the Falls, as well as the Skyline Inn and Hampton Inn on Victoria Avenue.
