Lack of posting this week

In case you haven’t noticed, I haven’t posted much this week. I’ve been off since Friday on vacation. I had planned on posting a few things during the week, but it just hasn’t happened. I’m just not at the computer very much.

Anyway, I won’t be posting much until next Tuesday or Wednesday. Of course, if I get any Sleep Cheap news, I’ll be sure to post it right away…

Planning a Toronto and Niagara Falls vacation — full itinerary

When Falls the Coliseum (“a journal of American culture[or lack thereof]) has some information on planning a trip to Niagara Falls (including the person’s own itinerary):

We recently took a summer family vacation to Canada. Did you know it’s a different country? It is! You even need passports. We had a great time in Toronto and Niagara Falls, so I’m giving our readers the full itinerary with brief comments about each item. That should make planning your next summer vacation easier (unless you don’t want to go to Canada, in which case it might make your planning more difficult).

Some observations about the new Niagara Falls Margaritaville

As I tweeted last week, I stopped by the new Niagara Falls location of Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville. I walked all through the restaurant to check it out. I haven’t eaten there yet, but here are some observations:

  • They did a very nice job fixing up that building.
  • It has a definite “” theme to it. The decorations, wall coverings, and sets all definitely give you a “vacation” feel.
  • The stage is smaller than I thought, but still looks like it has everything they need.
  • I’ve been told that there are 3 bands playing each day.
  • When I was by, there were two guys out on one of the patios playing, with one of them playing a . I love that sound!
  • There are 4 patios of various sizes.
  • I saw a girl on making balloon shapes for people.
  • The extension of the building that was put on the Fallsview Blvd side is their gift shop.
  • There is a nice projector system that shows a very large
  • I’ve been told that their hamburger meal is around $13, where competitors (Hard Rock, Planet Hollywood) is closer to $16

Overall, I’m very, very impressed. It seems to be a much better fit that the Wolfgang Puck restaurant.

As of now, the only negative thing I’d say, is that you can’t see inside the restaurant at all from the outside. That seems like a shame. You can’t really see at all how cool it is until you walk in. That seems to be a mistake as they miss quite a bit of walking traffic if people aren’t familiar with the restaurant chain.

I don’t know when I’ll have a chance to go and eat there, but I’m looking forward to it.

FREE NIAGARA FALLS ATTRACTIONS PUT THE SPOTLIGHT ON SUMMER OUTDOOR ADVENTURES

From a Niagara Falls Tourism press release seen on Hospitality Net:

One of the most surprising and overlooked Niagara Falls attractions is the great outdoors — and it offers just enough variety to keep everyone entertained whether on an Ontario family vacation or couples’ getaway. Even better, many of the outdoor adventures are completely free.

FallenPeach, Photography, Graphic Design and Fine Art: Away We Went: Niagara Falls

Someone with a Blogger blog posted about a recent trip to Niagara Falls (along with pictures):

Matt and I just returned from our 2 year anniversary vacation to Niagara Falls, Canada. We had a wonderful time, and walked A LOT. My legs are still sore, but it was worth it. We stayed in two different hotels because we decided to go a day earlier than planned, both were nice. The second hotel room had a view of the falls, but we were only on the 4th floor – so it wasn’t as spectacular as a view as we had expected. However, there was an observatory on the 14th floor, which was cool.

Another slow week (or more) of posting

I’m on vacation again now until about 10 days from now, so there probably won’t be a lot of postings. Actually, I do have a fair number already scheduled (including this one), so you might not even notice I’m gone :-)

While I’m off, I will be doing a couple of Niagara Falls-related things. On the night of the 15th my family is staying at the Doubletree. We’re looking forward to it. Also, sometime while I’m off I’ll be hooking up with regular blog commentor Adam who runs SocialMediaNiagara.com for an interview. Fun!

I’m baaack!

I had a fantastic 10 days off. We didn’t do much, but maybe that is what made it great. Plus, the weather was incredible.

Anyway, I’m back now and will start posting things today. It will probably take a couple of days to get caught up.

Thanks for taking care of things while I was gone!
