Pizza Deli (former Capri) Liquor License Application
As was mentioned here, the former Capri Restaurant is undergoing renovations and will open as a place called Pizza Deli. The only way we know this right now is from a notice in Wednesday’s Niagara Falls Review about a Liquor License Application. You can see the notice below (taken with my cell phone camera). It’s a bit blurry, but you get the idea.

There is finally a Margaritaville sign up!
I’ve mentioned this on numerous occasions… I found out 8 months ago or so that the old Wolfgang Puck’s was going to become a Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville. Then a month or two ago they formally announced it. I walk by almost every day, and couldn’t believe that there wasn’t a “coming soon” sign (or something like that). Well, today, they finally have one. It is in a terrible location, but at least they have something.
If you are on the Murray St side of the building and you look towards the top of the building, you’ll see this:

Olympic take on Oh Canada Eh
From the Niagara Falls Review:
Thought the Olympics closing ceremonies looked familiar? If you’ve seen the Oh Canada Eh dinner show in Niagara Falls, you weren’t imagining things.
From the moose to the lumberjacks to the hockey players, the cheeky celebration of all things Canadiana was like a carbon copy of the award-winning show that has been tickling tourists since 1994.
“Anne of Green Gables was the only thing missing in their performance that’s in ours,” said an amused Oh Canada Eh vice-president Anne Robinson…
Robinson had so much deja vu watching the closing ceremonies, she wondered if the Olympic producers took in a show or two of Oh Canada Eh at some point.

Creme de la Crema at Niagara Square
This isn’t exactly in the main tourist district, but I was emailed about this so I figured I’d pass it along…
Chris Tollins and his wife have opened a new café and boutique in Niagara Falls called Creme de la Crema. It has been their dream for a while to do this, and with the help of an Ontario government program, they were able to do it. You can visit their web site at CremeDeLaCrema.ca or read a write-up on the St Catharines Live blog.

Dirty Washrooms at Fast Food Chains
Someone with a Blogger blog posted about a recent bad experience at the Burger King on Clifton Hill:
Why do multi-national food chains, with billions of dollars in profits all have the worst washrooms in the country? I recently had lunch on Clifton Hill at Niagara Falls
. Me and my family ate at the “King’s” palace…you know the guy, the royal with the crown and whopper???!!! The restaurant was dirty and dingy. As you approach the counter, you notice the signs right away, ‘We Do Not Participate in Coupon Programs’ and ‘We Do Not Offer Refills.’ I was hesitant, but I ordered anyway…fries for my daughter, and 3 combos…for me, my husband and son. The burgers were small, the fries were barely non-existent and my coke was less than refreshing. I was ok with all that until my daughter said she had to use the washroom. I dreaded going to the washroom (if you have a small child who is being potty trained, you know what I am talking about.) As we got to the washrooms, there was a girl standing in line. Looking at my daughter, and knowing she couldn’t wait very long, I asked the girl ahead of me if there was anyone in the mens’ washroom. She said she did not think so. I pushed my way
in there. (A mother has to do, what a mother has to do.) I could’ve vomitted. The place smelled of urine, feces and others. It looked disgusting and I was afraid to touch anything, even worse, I kept on telling my daughter every 5 seconds to not touch anything.
Note: I usually don’t post this sort of negative thing, but this person seemed genuinely sincere, and had just a terrible experience. I sure hope she contacts the corporate customer service people. It’s the only way to have this sort of thing addressed.

Work being done at future Margaritaville
I commented before about how there is no sign (at the time of this posting) on the old Wolfgang Puck’s restaurant showing that Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville was coming this year. Even without a sign, it is obvious there is a lot of work going on. The building is almost gutted on the inside, a fence is around the outside, and part of the entrance roof of the Holiday Inn has been removed (which I assume is related to the restaurant).

Jimmy Buffett chooses Falls site for eatery
From the Niagara Falls Review:
The first Cheeseburger in Paradise to be sold in Canada will be right here in Niagara Falls, when Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville opens this spring.
And there’s a chance the restaurant’s famous namesake will show up at some point to perform there.
The eatery will be open year-round and feature live music, food and drinks. George Davidson, president of Margaritaville Canada, made the announcement outside the former Wolfgang Puck restaurant, where it will be based.
Just a reminder that someone left a comment way back in August telling us about this new restaurant. Don’t you love getting the scoop early?!
