Another in my series on keycards…
I found a Travelodge keycard the other day. It is a little different than the one I found last time.

Lights on new Wyndham hotel
I’m not sure what brand the new Wyndham hotel on Stanley Ave is going to be, but both Wyndham Garden and Wingate by Wyndham both have a green logo. There are lights on the new hotel that are green. It looks very nice at night, but not so nice during the day. The hotel is a tan/beige/taupe colour, so the green looks a little odd to me.

Seven plans offered for Falls site
From the Buffalo News:
The city whose reputation as a honeymoon capital is often overshadowed by its reputation for urban decay is poised to get its first major downtown development — outside of the Seneca Niagara Casino — in some 30 years.
City and state officials have confirmed that seven developers submitted proposals for a 38,000-square-foot site at 310 Rainbow Blvd.
While details of the specific plans were not released, officials said they would like to see a mixed-use building rise on the site to fill the unmet downtown demand for retail, food, beverage, residential and hotel space around the falls.

N.F., Ont., inn gets new life as Wyndham
From Buffalo Business First:
The former Stanley Inn, once a landmark hotel on Stanley Avenue in Niagara Falls, Ont., will be reborn as the city’s first Wyndham Hotel .
Local developers are investing $7.5 million to renovate it into a nine-story, 152-suite hotel that will open next year. Located in the city’s Fallsview business district, it is near the recently opened Scotiabank Convention Centre and also close to Fallsview Casino Resort. The Stanley Inn has been vacant for more than five years.
As you know, I have reported on the construction on this site for months. However, I had no idea it was going to be a Wyndham property. Why don’t these companies put signs up to get the name out there. I would have included it in every posting if I had known. Seems like a missed opportunity…

Selling Prices of Niagara Falls Hotels
Selling prices of Niagara Falls hotelsUnofficial start of Summer 2011

Yes, Summer doesn’t start until June 21, but this weekend and next weekend are the unofficial start of Summer in the tourist area of Niagara Falls. I would think that generally the industry likes it when Memorial Day and Victoria Day fall on different weekends, like this year.
It doesn’t seem like much was done over the winter that will be noticeable. There are some hotels and restaurants that changed names, but very little construction. Probably the one big one is Dinosaur Adventure Golf. It sure looks like it will open soon. The dinosaurs look amazing. The only drawback is that it will take a couple of years for the plants and trees to mature and give it a nicer “jungle” sort of look.
Based on the people I’ve seen around on the weekends in the last month or so, it seems like this summer could be strong. Let’s hope so!

Construction at Fallsview Inn on Stanley Avenue
Back in July http://twitpic.com/223lpeI posted a picture of a notice of a sign outside the Fallsview Inn on Stanley Avenue. There was a proposal for a 9-storey hotel. Well, reading this sign would have made me think that there was a new 9-storey hotel being build. Actually, it appears to just be an addition.
