Hockey Players For Kids

This is from a press release I recently recieved from Hockey Players for Kids. They are having an event in Niagara Falls in a few weeks:

Hockey Players For Kids (HP4K) will be hosting the inaugural HP4K Classic on June 23, 2011 in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

The HP4K Classic charity game is a way to formally bring together the members of HP4K, various hockey celebrities, and local talent for a day of fun and hockey in the Niagara area. The Classic will give spectators a chance watch HP4K members such as Darroll Powe of the Philadelphia Flyers, Erik Condra and Colin Greening of the Ottawa Senators, and Mike Moore of the San Jose and Worcester Sharks. It will also feature well-known Niagara resident Kevin Dallman, who has played for the LA Kings, St. Louis Blues, and is currently playing in the Russian KHL for Barys Astana. The night will include auctions for jerseys and memorabilia, and will raise awareness for HP4K and our community initiatives around the world.

The HP4K Classic will be held at the Gale Centre, 4171 Fourth Avenue, located in Niagara Falls, Ontario, on June 23, 2011 at 7:30 P.M. The event will be open to all members of the public, who may purchase tickets for $5 at the door. Free admission is offered to children under the age of 12. Proceeds from admission, merchandise sales, and donations will be shared between HP4K and local Niagara non-profit organizations.

Hockey Players for Kids’ mission is to harness the leadership, enthusiasm and public goodwill of the most exceptional people playing professional hockey, and use it to positively impact the lives of local children. HP4K also acts as a forum to foster the personal growth and development of its members. Founded in Cincinnati, Ohio in 2009, HP4K has more than 70 members in 30 cities and 8 countries around the world. More information is available at www.hp4k.org.

Olympic take on Oh Canada Eh

From the Niagara Falls Review:

Thought the Olympics closing ceremonies looked familiar? If you’ve seen the Oh Canada Eh dinner show in Niagara Falls, you weren’t imagining things.

From the moose to the lumberjacks to the hockey players, the cheeky celebration of all things Canadiana was like a carbon copy of the award-winning show that has been tickling tourists since 1994.

“Anne of Green Gables was the only thing missing in their performance that’s in ours,” said an amused Oh Canada Eh vice-president Anne Robinson…

Robinson had so much deja vu watching the closing ceremonies, she wondered if the Olympic producers took in a show or two of Oh Canada Eh at some point.
