From Frightening to Fun, Niagara Events Have It All This Halloween

From a PRWeb press release seen on Yahoo! News:

Halloween is not for the faint of heart in Niagara Falls with ghoulish Niagara events all around the popular districts of Clifton Hill, Fallsview Boulevard and Lundy’s Lane.

Clifton Hill is the destination for family fun on Halloween with attractions such as the House of Frankenstein, Mystery Maze and the Crystal Caves. The district is also the home of Nightmares Fear Factory, the longest running haunted house in North America, built on the site of the once industrious Cataract Coffin Factory where eccentric proprietor Abraham Mortimer was killed and is said to still walk the halls seeking revenge. For over 30 years, the attraction has been scaring, thrilling and challenging guests to survive, with over 100,000 chickening out and heading for the exits.

Jimmy Buffett serves up entertainment at Falls restaurant

From the Niagara Falls Review:

Customers at Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville were given an added treat that wasn’t on the menu on Tuesday.

People mover deal needs more time

From the Niagara Falls Review:

It will take at least two more meetings for the city and Niagara Parks Commission to work out a deal to jointly run a people mover bus system that will shuttle tourists among Niagara Falls attractions, commission chairwoman Fay Booker says.

“We have a draft agreement in front of us we’re working on,” Booker said Friday after meeting with Mayor Ted Salci.

They were trying to finalize an agreement in principle they reached in June to run a bus system on roads owned by the parks commission in Queen Victoria Park and on city-owned streets like Clifton Hill and Fallsview Boulevard.

“We’re really hoping by early August,” Booker said when asked how long it might take to finalize the rest of the details.

There’s an absence of Avatar at our Imax

This Niagara Falls Review article isn’t directly tourism-related, but it does involve the local IMAX theatre, so I figured I’d include it. Also, I’ve seen Avatar twice, and I’d love to see it in IMAX 3D :-)

Still holding out hope to see Avatar at the Niagara Falls Imax? You might be waiting awhile.

Despite the film’s massive success -and the fact director James Cameron is from Chippawa – Niagara’s only Imax facility won’t be screening the blockbuster soon, if ever.

The venue’s projectors can only screen films 50 minutes or shorter, says Clayton Doner, operations manager for Imax Theatre Niagara Falls on Fallsview Boulevard.

The cost to purchase an Imax projector to show Cameron’s three-hour epic is upwards of $1 million.

“There’s no chance at all,” says Doner.
