Scotiabank Acquires Naming Rights to New Convention Centre in Niagara Falls
From a CNW Group press release seen on Yahoo! Finance:
The Niagara Convention & Civic Centre (NCCC) today announced that Scotiabank has acquired the naming rights to the new facility, which will open in April 2011. The Scotiabank Convention Centre (SCC), located a mere 500 yards from the Canadian Horseshoe Falls, will draw hundreds of thousands of guests to the multi-purpose facility every year for a diverse range of events and corporate functions. The Centre will be the largest event and meeting facility of its kind in Niagara Falls and the Niagara Region.
“This is an exciting new step in the evolution of the convention centre,” said Kerry Painter, President & General Manager, Scotiabank Convention Centre. “Our partnership with Scotiabank re-emphasizes the expectations and aspirations of not just the local community and the region, but also of the business sector on a national and international level. The Scotiabank Convention Centre is to be an innovator of unconventional experiences and a model for ‘green standards’. Scotiabank has continuously proven itself to be a community leader nationwide; and today, their investment in Niagara Falls demonstrates that one more time.”

From the Niagara Falls Review:
Like a carefully choreographed assembly line, the crews worked in unison at a quick pace, each aware that team-work and timing were vital to a positive outcome.
“This is well-planned out,” said Reg Coates as concrete truck after concrete truck drove into the cavernous exhibition hall at the Niagara Convention and Civic Centre Thursday.

Convention centre, Review’s owners form partnership
From the Niagara Falls Review:
A new partnership between the future Niagara Falls convention centre and the company that owns The Niagara Falls Review will boost the image of the city-owned facility scheduled to open next spring and add to its operating revenue, officials with both companies say.
The Niagara Convention and Civic Centre selected Sun Media, the company that owns the daily newspapers in Niagara Falls, St. Catharines and Welland, as its official media sponsor.
“It means a great deal. The NCCC coming into the Niagara region is about as exciting as it gets for the development of the region,” said Judy Bullis, senior group publisher for the Niagara Newspapers Group, a division of Sun Media.
The deal is an exclusive arrangement that will see Sun Media advertising staff sell the ads displayed inside the $100-million facility on Stanley Avenue.
